History of Discovery
|
Below is a brief summary. We hope
to have more details and pictures in the near future! Anyone
with additional information please contact the church office, 925-449-5256,
or email: discoverychurch@discovery-livermore.com.
Discovery began as the "First Church of the Nazarene", July of 1953, in the home of Earl Austin.
By September of 1953 we moved to the basement of the library, which is now the Carnegie building on
3rd Street. The entrance to the basement is on the 4th Street side of the building.
We were able to buy property at 418 Junction and built a church building in 1957.

The name changed to Vineyard Community Church of the Nazarene.
We rented the Junction property and rented Arroyo Mocho Elementary for services.
The name changed again to Discovery Church of the Nazarene when we bought the current building at
5860 Las Positas Road.
